What do Vegetarians eat on Thanksgiving?

A Festive Table
(a note on the blurriness: unfortunately my camera was on the wrong setting and the flash didn't go off - I didn't realize at the time how blurry the picture was because the preview screen on the camera isn't working, or maybe I should just say that this was intended to be an artsy shot!)

Notice the gravity-defying pumpkin pie!

(note to self: next time remove the designer napkins (aka rolls of toilet paper) before taking photos of the food!)

Our Menu, starting from the left:
- roasted sweet potatoes
- roasted potatoes and carrots
- veggie loaf (seitan) stuffed with rice, mushrooms and red peppers
- pumpkin pie
(the salad and gravy are on the main table)

Let's eat!

A Snowy Farewell to Athens

My last day in Athens I woke up to a wonderful sight: big puffy flakes of snow falling from the sky and Ymittos mountain was already turning white!

It snowed all morning down in the city as well (sorry, no photos) - it was a beautiful farewell gift after a lovely and productive stay!

A Day at the Beach

Kavouri Beach

It was cold and rainy

But some of us went swimming anyway in Vouliagmeni Lake, which is fed by hot springs (it was still pretty chilly!)

Visit to Acropolis

We started out at Monastiraki Square (North of the Acropolis)

Entrance to the Roman Agora, Northwest of the Acropolis, guarded by a vicious beast (dogs are everywhere - I love Athens!)

Temple of Iphestios - god of volcanoes (Northwest of the Acropolis)

Looking west, through the Propylion (entry gate) of Acropolis

The Parthenon

Ancient Theatre on the side of the Acropolis

Looking South: The new museum of the Acropolis (the large black building)

Looking North: Lykavitos Hill

Looking Northwest at the Temple of Iphestios and beyond

That's me! Standing at the Propolyion (looking west)

The Erechtheion (a temple), with the porch of the Karyatids

The old neighborhood of Athens, called Plaka, at the Northeast base of the Acropolis

Some of you have already seen these photos - taken from Lykavitos, which is a very tall hill in the middle of Athens.
